The Halloween tablao: La Verdad in the studio
A Halloween account published on 27 October 2025. “Yesterday”, “today” and the December plans refer to that time.
By ten in the morning, I was already at the studio.
Everything had to be prepared: putting up the curtains, setting up the lighting system, and getting the sound ready for the YouTube livestream.
Thanks to the new equipment, yesterday's livestream had beautifully clear sound, as though the air itself were dancing too.
We were lucky enough to have all the volunteers and the team who are always by my side come along.
There are no words to express the gratitude I feel for them.
Amid laughter and joy, we put every detail in its place, each person doing their work calmly and in rhythm.
When we opened the doors, the audience filled almost the entire studio.
And then something very special happened:
for the first time in twenty-five years, we received a visit from Miguel, who was described at the time as the cultural delegate of the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo.
It was the first time someone from the Embassy had come to the academy, and his presence moved me more than I can say.
My students and teachers danced as never before, with all their artistry and wholehearted dedication.
The audience felt it, let themselves be carried away, and breathed in that living art born from the heart.
At the beginning of the event, I danced some jaleos with Yoshie, a flamenco dancer who had been part of my Al Ándalus company years ago.
She got married and moved to Okinawa, and fate brought us back together here, dancing together once again.
Seeing her dance again and sharing that moment was an immense joy.
Afterwards, each of the flamenco dancers shared her artistry.
The wonderful Kurosu gave us a radiant alegría de Córdoba, a flamenco dance in that style.
And at the end… I did something a little crazy.
Even with Miguel, the students, and the whole audience there, I put on a wig and a witch's hat,
and danced a playful soleá, just to make my students laugh.
It was Happy Halloween, and I had never done anything like that before,
but seeing their smiles and their joy made it worthwhile.
The audience left happy, with a lovely lasting impression,
and we stayed at the studio: volunteers, teachers, students…
sharing a beautiful little while together, laughing out loud, and remembering the old days.
Today I'm in bed with a cold that has left me exhausted,
but with a full heart.
Yesterday has already become an unforgettable memory.
Now it's time to rest a little…
and start preparing the next Tablao La Verdad,
which was coming up that December.
