SEPTEMBER 2026
A concise and easy-to-read overview of a month at BG Flamenco Academy. This guide brings together last month's events, this month's learnings, Benito's words, online recommendations, flamenco information for Tokyo and the Kanto region, and a preview of what's to come next month.

Three stories this month
Theme | Connecting, Revisiting the Basics
Getting a little closer as human beings. Benito's personal LINE app is a place that can be used not only for communication but also for small, everyday connections.
Before adding anything more difficult, let's take another deep look at the fundamentals, such as body positioning, center of gravity, and how to hold the skirt.
Moving on to October. Through open classes and Studio Concerts, we will connect both learning and viewing into the next month.

From Benito
This month, what I wanted to cherish most was "being close to you." I want to be more than just a teacher, teaching you things; I want to have a relationship with you where I can more naturally connect with you during your practice sessions, on days when things don't go well, and even on those little moments when you feel happy.
It's the same with flamenco; moving forward isn't just about increasing the difficulty. When you revisit the fundamentals you thought you knew, you can sometimes see a new dance emerge. I want this newspaper to be more than just a record of what's happening at BG; I want it to be a place to record where we are now and what we value. — Beni

BG for the past month
• The August blog continued with Benito and her son Teo's stay in Spain, their reunion in Cordoba, and reflections on family, memories, and the roots of flamenco.
• At the end of August, we posted information about BG Flamenco Academy's appearance at the Akabane Summer Festival and their appearance at the TUF Agents Fashion Show on September 4th.
• As September began, Benito published a new article in his own words, sharing insights gained during lessons and explaining why he will continue with BG.
• Information about the 19th Master Open Class (Sevillanas) on December 6th has also started appearing on the Wix Blog.
A message from Professor Benito
From now on, Benito-sensei will be providing QR codes for personal LINE contacts to everyone who requests them. This is not just for lesson notifications.
Feel free to send a message like "How are you?" when you're wondering "How is Beni doing?", or just to talk about yourself, or even if you don't have a specific reason to contact her. Benito has been interacting with you all as a teacher in Japan for a long time, but from now on, she hopes to connect with you more closely as people, not just as a teacher and student.
Even when you're practicing flamenco at home, feel free to send me videos with a casual "Beni, take a look!" kind of feeling. I don't expect me to give you a detailed lesson check; it's more like sending a video to a friend saying "Hey, take a look!" If I notice anything, I'll be happy to give you a quick comment.
I may not be able to reply immediately, and of course, this doesn't mean you have to contact me. Please feel free to LINE me whenever you want to talk, ask a question, or show me something. This is a message from Benito that I want to cherish my connection with all of you, not just as a teacher, but as a person.

The studio now

Learn in the studio
In recent Sevillanas classes, we're not just learning the choreography, but also carefully reviewing the fundamentals, such as "how to use your body" and "how to hold your skirt." This is because even small differences can greatly change the overall impression of the dance.
Benito views lessons not as a place where the teacher unilaterally instructs, but as a "shared practice" in which both the teacher and the students learn from each other.

What we're learning
① Feeling your body's orientation and center of gravity
② Don't just focus on the "form" of how you hold your hands or skirt.
③ Before adding more difficult things, deepen the quality that lies within the basics.
This month's theme is "understanding things a little more deeply" rather than memorizing a lot of things.
If I could only practice one thing this month...
Before adding more Sevillanas choreography, choose just one short section and slowly check your body positioning, center of gravity, and how you hold your skirt. Carefully redoing the movements you can already do is the most important practice this month.

BG Online
We gradually preserve the explanations and exercises that originate in the studio in YouTube videos and classes for members. We value the idea that an insight gained in our Tokyo classroom can later reach someone practicing elsewhere.

El Periódico de BG Flamenco is not just a place to list events at BG. It is a monthly record that preserves the learning that takes place in the classroom, the connections made with people, the performances, online experiences, and the flamenco that can be encountered in Tokyo.
