They are served on a warm plate and take a seat at the table.

Having breakfast with my son.
Making his breakfast without rushing.
Thinking about dinner while he plays, while the house breathes quietly.
Cooking is more than just cooking.
It is caring for someone else's time.
It is saying “I'm here” without words.

The power of a few words
And then, in the middle of something ordinary, comes that little sentence that puts everything in its place:
“Dad, I love your food.”
It isn't a restaurant review.
It is a hug spoken softly.
In this new chapter, things have become clearer.
The house holds a gentle silence, the kind that doesn't frighten you.
And when the heart finds its place, it begins to do the simple things well.

Connection in the studio
But life doesn't stay only at the table.
It opens out in the studio, too.
The company of my closest female students… and of all the others.
Watching them arrive with their bodies, their stories, their eagerness.
And watching them enjoy what brings us together most: flamenco.
Something happens there that money can't buy.
A pure energy that spreads from one person to another.
A laugh after a difficult attempt.
A little “¡ole!” when the remate comes together.
Palmas falling into place as though the air itself were learning.

The essence of flamenco
Sometimes I think that is what flamenco is:
a way of being together without pretending.
A language the body understands even when the mind is tired.
A chosen family that recognises one another through a gesture, a glance, the compás.
The table becomes a stage.
The frying pan, a guitar.
The play in the background, soft palmas.
And at the academy, every step… an invisible thread that ties us to the best in ourselves.

Cooking with care
It isn't about doing it perfectly.
It is about doing it with presence.
Making breakfast and dinner is a way of telling the world—and yourself—that love, too, cooks slowly: you taste it, adjust it… and serve it warm.
And when my son smiles and says again that he loves my food,
and when my students smile because their compás comes through a little more clearly,
everything else stops mattering for a moment.
That is flamenco, too.
That is home, too.
