Flamenco in Matsuzaki: Second Edition with Beni, June 2024
Our flamenco show in Matsuzaki on Saturday, June 1 came to a successful close
The first flamenco show in Matsuzaki took place in October 2023, organised by teacher Junko. This second edition featured teacher Beni!

This time, the flamenco show took place in a spacious venue: 松崎環境改善センター (literally, “Matsuzaki Environmental Improvement Centre”). Local residents took the initiative to help arrange the chairs, staff the reception desk and even handle the lighting. With their help, we created a fully equipped stage and were ready for the performance!

We welcomed an audience of 120! Alongside Matsuzaki residents, people came from different parts of Shizuoka Prefecture. During the show, we performed lively pieces such as Sevillanas and Alegrías together with Beni. For the Alegrías that Beni had choreographed for the people of Matsuzaki, we danced with the town in our thoughts and put our hearts into every movement. Hearing the audience call out “¡Olé!” in encouragement made us truly happy!

After the show, many audience members came up to share their reactions: “I was so moved by Beni’s dancing! It brought tears to my eyes!”, “Thank you all so much for coming to Matsuzaki” and “I came to Matsuzaki because I wanted to see Beni dance!”
This show began with Junko’s wish: “I want to introduce the people of Matsuzaki to Beni’s flamenco!” She discussed it with Beni, and together they made the show possible. We are so glad we could introduce him to the people of Matsuzaki. We hope this encounter sparked even a little interest in flamenco and encourages more people to become involved!
To everyone in Matsuzaki, thank you so much.
