Introductory Masterclass 9: First Sevillana | 2024
The ninth edition of teacher Beni’s “Introductory Masterclass” welcomed many students, including participants who joined through Zoom and YouTube.
This class focused on sevillanas. At the beginning, teacher Beni danced a sevillana as a demonstration. It was so beautiful that the students sighed in admiration. With his guidance, we learned the choreography for the first sevillana, exploring how to express both a flamenco character and a classical character. Changes in arm movements and the use of the body gave the first sevillana we usually danced a completely different feel. One of the participating students told us, “It was difficult, but I had so much fun!”
The lesson ended with this advice from teacher Beni: “Having fun while dancing is the most important thing! Enjoy flamenco!”
At the end of this edition, it was announced that the next class would continue working on sevillanas.
At that time, students were encouraged to take part in the next class.
