BG Masterclass 6: Flamenco Technique | 2023 Class Report
The popular open class, where students can learn flamenco directly from Beni, once again welcomed many participants. The first half of the lesson focused on footwork technique.
After learning how to execute golpe, planta and tacón, we practised a variety of footwork combinations. Beni shared tips and practice methods for producing clear, precise sounds even as the pace increased. In the second half, we worked on how to use the upper body.
While practising marking steps, we learned how to transfer body weight, move the arms through braceo and coordinate the body's movement.
The students listened closely to Beni's advice and practised their marking steps while checking their movements in the mirror.
Once again, it was an enjoyable lesson filled with useful advice to help the students improve their dancing. The 90 minutes flew by.
At the time, we looked forward to the next class and to continuing to learn flamenco with Spanish teacher Beni.
