Mayuko Harada at Tokyo’s Alhambra: A Show Organized by Emilio Maya
On September 11, 2025, our dear Mayuko Harada (原田真夕子) performed at the renowned Alhambra, a flamenco restaurant and tablao in Tokyo, in a live show organized by artist Emilio Maya.
Sharing the stage with performers beyond her usual BG Flamenco circle brought a particular sense of tension to this performance. Alongside presenting her own dancing, she felt the considerable responsibility of helping support the ensemble from behind. Moving through that pressure and performing with more experienced artists became a deeply valuable experience, offering rich opportunities to learn and fresh inspiration.
Above all, she drew encouragement from the studio students who came to support her. Their warm cheers gave her strength and helped her dance wholeheartedly through to the end.
AL ANDALUS 2.0 and BG Flamenco are proud of Mayuko Harada for taking this significant step, and deeply grateful for her courage in embracing the challenge.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, to her fellow performers, and to all those who helped create this wonderful occasion.
Let us keep moving forward, growing together, and sharing the compás, flamenco’s rhythmic pulse.
Poetic version (short poem)
The stage became a river of light
and at its heart Mayuko danced the strength of her roots.
The compás, the rhythmic pulse, carried responsibility
and, at the same time, duende, the spirit that stirs the soul.
The audience’s voices became wind
carrying her through to the final remate, the closing flourish.
There, seeds were sown:
a new step along the flamenco path, a pledge to the art,
a promise to the future.
“We will meet beneath the next moon, in the next compás.”
