My Story with Spain, Vol. 6
The talk “Benito García: Flamenco and Life” took place!
The event aimed to introduce younger generations to the appeal of flamenco. Victor Andresco, then director of Instituto Cervantes Tokyo, interviewed Beni, Ena Ito—described in this account as one of the leading young flamenco dancers—and Nobue Kurosu.
The interview began with each participant’s journey, then moved on to specific questions about influential moments and artists, as well as their ideas for sharing flamenco more widely in the future. Beni’s clear, thoughtful explanations gave us moments of renewed admiration, while the humorous remarks of Victor Andresco, then director of the institute, helped everyone relax. The conversation was engaging throughout, and the hour flew by. Questions from the audience rounded off a wonderful event.
