A Flamenco Lesson with Teacher Beni at Studio ARCHITANZ!
On Friday, January 31, 2025, teacher Beni led a flamenco lesson at Studio ARCHITANZ, a ballet studio in Tamachi. Held almost a year after the previous lesson in February 2024, this special session welcomed 13 students, who had the opportunity to experience the appeal of flamenco.
During the lesson, the students learned palmas (rhythmic handclapping), rhythm in cycles of 12 beats, arm movements, and marcaje steps. At the end, they tried a simple choreography. Beni's engaging teaching, sprinkled with jokes, kept the students smiling throughout the session.

Flamenco has distinctive movements that are not found in ballet. What matters is not simply memorizing choreography, but finding your own expression while feeling flamenco's distinctive atmosphere and expressiveness. When Beni shared this idea, something remarkable happened: the students' dancing gradually took on more and more of a flamenco character. Some reproduced Beni's movements beautifully and picked them up quickly, once again surprising us with their artistic instinct.

We would be happy if this experience helped the students discover what makes flamenco rhythm and expression so engaging. Perhaps elements of flamenco may be incorporated into a ballet work in the future. Should that happen, we hope they will remember the character they explored in this lesson and draw on it in their dancing.

Thank you to all the students of Studio ARCHITANZ!
