Al Andalus at Chiyoda’s International Exchange Fair 2024

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the dance company took part in the International Exchange Fair 2024!
The Benito García Flamenco Dance Company “Al Andalus” took part once again in 2024 in the International Exchange Fair held at Chiyoda City Office
Although we were the opening act, a large audience joined us first thing in the morning, and we enjoyed dancing amid their warm encouragement
We opened with lively sevillanas, using hats and abanicos (fans).
Teacher Kurosu introduced the hats and fans, and the guitarist and flamenco singer also spoke to the audience.
Next came the dance company’s graceful, feminine guajira,
a coquettish, stylish garrotín,
and when teacher Kurosu performed her striking, very flamenco alegrías, cries of “oleee” rang out across the venue, bringing the excitement to its peak!!
Finally, everyone in the performing group came together for sevillanas, bringing the performance to a successful close.
Teacher Beni and many students came to support us early in the morning. With everyone’s jaleo cheers encouraging us, we enjoyed dancing right through to the end. Thank you so much to all the students who came
We would be delighted if this International Exchange Fair helped people from many countries deepen their understanding of flamenco even further
